The American University of Culture & Education (AUCE) is a private, non-profit higher education institution located in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. Founded in 1983 by Dr. Amjad Al-Nabulsi, it initially began as a college of computer and hotel management technology. After years of development, it was officially authorized by the Lebanese government in 2000 to grant undergraduate and graduate degrees.
AUCE’s founding stemmed from a deep commitment to education. In 1995, Dr. Naboulsi gathered a group of like-minded scholars to envision a new type of university. After five years of preparation, this vision finally became a reality on August 7, 2000—AUCE received its operating license under Presidential Decree No. 3585/2000. On June 17, 2009, the university further received accreditation from Presidential Decree No. 2292, officially becoming an accredited higher education institution recognized by the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education. AUCE’s motto is “Education has no limits,” and its mission is to improve and enrich people’s lives through education, striving to cultivate students into leaders capable of leading in a rapidly changing and increasingly interdependent world. The university emphasizes proactive, creative, and continuous learning while promoting an inclusive global citizenship culture.
Academically, AUCE comprises three main schools: the Business School, the School of Humanities and Sciences, and the School of Fine Arts, offering master’s programs. These programs cover a wide range of fields, including business administration, accounting, finance, human resource management, hospitality management, tourism management, translation, English language teaching, fine arts, interior design, and computer science. The university offers bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programs, using a semester-based teaching system.
AUCE’s educational quality has received numerous authoritative accreditations. In addition to accreditation from the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the university is also accredited by the British Accreditation Council (BAC). Its degrees are recognized in Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Qatar, and most Arab countries.
Currently, AUCE has approximately 3,000 to 4,000 students and 200 to 300 faculty and staff. The school is co-educational, and international students are also welcome to apply. Tuition fees are approximately US$5,000 to US$7,500 per year, with financial aid and scholarship opportunities available. The campus is located in downtown Beirut and boasts comprehensive teaching and living facilities, including a library, sports facilities, and student dormitories.
