Cooperative Degree Programs: The two universities jointly offer undergraduate programs including: BSc with Honours in Computing Science, BEn with Honours in Civil Engineering, and BEn with Honours in Mechanical Engineering. All courses are three-year direct honors degrees and are taught at SPU’s Punggol campus.
Each program has a distinct industry focus: the Computer Science program is Singapore’s first computer science program focused on the Internet of Things (IoT), covering areas such as software engineering, cybersecurity, data analytics, and machine learning; the Civil Engineering program is designed to meet the needs of Singapore’s building and infrastructure development, cultivating students’ ability to handle complex engineering challenges; and the Mechanical Engineering program emphasizes digital skills development, including Industrial IoT and data analytics.
**Application-Oriented Learning Model:** A core feature of the collaborative program is the eight-month Integrated Work Programme (IWSP), which requires students to undertake long-term internships in relevant industry companies, applying classroom learning to real-world work scenarios. Civil Engineering students also gain dual experience in design and on-site supervision, crucial for future registration as professional engineers in Singapore.
Furthermore, all students must participate in a three-week Overseas Immersion Program (OIP) at the University of Glasgow’s main campus in the UK, including academic lectures, design innovation workshops, and industry visits.
**Degree Awarding and Career Prospects:** Upon graduation, students will receive an Honours Bachelor of Science degree jointly awarded by SIT and the University of Glasgow. Graduates of the Computer Science program can pursue careers as software engineers, IoT architects, cybersecurity analysts, and AI/ML engineers; graduates of the Civil Engineering program can find employment in government departments, engineering consulting firms, construction companies, and real estate development.
